Biography

Charles W. Crawford, 89, of rural Marshall, MO, died Thursday, September 20, 2012, at Fitzgibbon Hospital in Marshall.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, September 22, 2012, at Marshall Church of the Nazarene, with Rev. Keith Jackson officiating. Visitation will be held from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. Friday at Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home in Marshall. Burial will be in Ridge Park Cemetery in Marshall. Born July 17, 1923, near Urbana, MO, he was the son of the late Ben F. Crawford and Mary Nelson Crawford. On April 4, 1945, he married Viola M. Tevis who survives. He had lived in Marshall since 1969 and was a member of Marshall Church of the Nazarene. He worked for Montgomery Farms, was a janitor for Marshall Church of the Nazarene and Covenant Presbyterian Church, retiring from the Missouri State Highway Department.

In addition to his wife, survivors include five children, Roberta Nelson and husband Ed of Houstonia, MO, Don Crawford and wife Sharon of Marshall, Carol Roop and husband Rick of Elk Grove, CA, Larry Crawford of Marshall and Mary Tevis and husband Steve of Houstonia; 15 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; one brother, Frankie Crawford of Corder, MO; one sister, Hazel Nasalroad of Hermitage, MO; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Frances Southard; a daughter-in-law, Brenda Crawford; and a great-grandson, C.J. Bilbruck.
