Life Legacy


Lloyd Charles William Cordes, 91, of rural Sweet Springs, MO, died Friday, September 14, 2012 at his home.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 18, 2012 at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Sweet Springs. Burial with military rites will be held in Fairview Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to family choice and an online guestbook is available at www.campbell-lewis.com

Born December 27, 1920, in Emma, MO, he was the son of the late Henry Cordes and Pauline Meyer Cordes. On August 30, 1952 he married Stella M. Hess, who preceded him in death on April 30, 2007. He was a graduate of Sweet Springs High School and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was employed at the GM Fairfax plant in Kansas City, retiring in 1977, after 30 years of service. After spending many years in Kansas City, he moved back to the Sweet Springs area in 1991, where he was a member of First Baptist Church.

Survivors include two daughters, Judy Larimore of Sweet Springs, MO, Mary Lucille Sharp and companion Robert Millsap of Warsaw, MO; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; 16 great-great-grandchildren; along with many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by three brothers: Harvey, Clarence, and Harold Cordes; one son-in-law, Ron Larimore; and one great-granddaughter, Toni Dawn Healy.
