Doris L. Jones, 84, of rural Sweet Springs, MO, formerly of Marshall, MO, died Tuesday, September 11, 2012, at University Hospital and Clinics in Columbia, MO.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, September 14, 2012, at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Marshall. Visitation will be held from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Sunset Gardens Cemetery in Marshall. Memorials may be made to Alzheimer’s Association. Friends may sign the online register book at www.campbell-Lewis.com
Born June 4, 1928, in Saline County, MO, she was the daughter of the late Irvine N. Blackerby and Lilly Shrader Blackerby. On October 14, 1967, in Marshall, she married Marvin L. Jones who preceded her in death on June 7, 2006. She had lived in Marshall, Sedalia, Warsaw and Sweet Springs. She worked for Missouri Public Service Co. for 28 years retiring in 1982. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Sedalia.
Survivors include one brother, Clarence Blackerby of rural Sweet Springs; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one brother, Lloyd Blackerby; and three sisters, Hazel Blackerby, Velma Skouby and Elsie Prevo.
