Biography

Zella May Blackwell, 80, of Marshall, MO, died Tuesday, September 4, 2012 at The Living Center in Marshall.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 7, 2012 at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Marshall with visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Ridge Park Cemetery. Born May 15, 1932 in Saline County, MO, she was the daughter of the late James R. Gibson and Opal V. Sims Gibson. On February 4, 1950 she married Donald L. Blackwell who preceded her in death on October 11, 2005. She had lived in Saline County her entire life where she was a homemaker. As well as being a homemaker, she had worked at Johnson’s Nursing Home and Mar-Saline Manor. She was a member of Bethany Baptist Church.

Survivors include two sons, Donnie Blackwell and wife Cathy of Marshall, and Ronnie Blackwell and companion Ruby Wall of Plant City, FL; one daughter, Wanda Jasper and husband Lee of Sweet Springs; nine grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers: J.R., Leroy, and Junior Gibson; and two sisters, Mary McDonnell and Joyce Mills.
