Biography
Doris Charlene King, 83, a lifelong resident of Marshall, MO, passed away on Wednesday, August 22, 2012, at The Living Center in Marshall.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 25, 2012, at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Marshall. Visitation will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Sunset Gardens Cemetery in Marshall. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Alzheimer’s Association or any children’s charity of choice. Born May 31, 1929, in Marshall, she was the daughter of the late Marion Francis Garrett and Kathryn Lydia Narron Garrett. On October 8, 1949, in Marshall, she married George W. (Bill) King who preceded her in death on September 12, 1988.
Survivors include one daughter, Patty Marcus of Republic, MO; two sons, Gary King and Greg King of Marshall; four sisters, Cecil Mae Fletcher, Maxine Kochs Neely, Barbara Duncan and Becky Howard; one brother, Harold (Doc) Garrett; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by
five sisters and three brothers.
Memories of her kindness and thoughtfulness toward others will long remain in the hearts of those who knew her.
