Biography

Wendy Ann Smith Apel, 48, of Sweet Springs, MO, died Saturday, August 18, 2012 at her home.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, August 24, 2012 at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Sweet Springs where friends may call after 9 a.m. Friday and the family will receive friends from 12 noon until time of the service. Born February 12, 1964 in Marshall, MO, she was the daughter of the late Elmer C. Smith and Mae Bailey Smith. On February 10, 2005 she married Charles Henry (Charlie) Apel, who survives of the home. She was a dedicated employee of the Sweet Springs Villa, where she worked as a nurses aid and in the kitchen for 26 years.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by one son, Justin Lee Sherman of Las Vegas, NV; one daughter, Nicole Lynn Sherman of Warsaw, MO; seven brothers: Eugene, Robert, Charles, Jimmy, and Dale Smith, Rick and Carroll Ray Bailey; three sisters: Claudia Bayne, Margaret Mullins, and her twin sister, Wanda Garrison (one of the “Smith” twins); along with many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Dennis Bailey; and one sister, Frances Bailey.
