Vernon A. (Shortie) Conrad, 87, of rural Marshall, MO, died Friday, August 17, 2012, at Fitzgibbon Hospital in Marshall.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 21, 2012, at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Marshall. Visitation will be held from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Sunset Gardens Cemetery in Marshall. After the burial friends may call at the home of Jeanne Parkhurst, 902 Sandy Lane in Marshall. Born December 26, 1924, in Brunswick, MO, he was the son of the late Pete Conrad and Marie Conrad Parkhurst. On November 6, 1948, he married Bonnie Carroll who survives of the home. He had lived in Saline County most of his life and was a farmer.

In addition to his wife, Bonnie, he is survived by two daughters, Jeanne Parkhurst and husband Doug and Janice Pace and husband Mike of Marshall; six grandchildren, Angela, Chad and Jill Parkhurst and Matthew, Brandon and Hannah Pace; one sister, Evelyn Bailey and husband Howard of Marshall and two nephews.

In addition to his father and mother, he was preceded in death by one brother, Melvin Conrad.
