Biography

David Krause, 64, of Higginsville, MO, died Sunday, August 12, 2012, at Lafayette Regional Health Center in Lexington, MO.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, August 15, 2012, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Higginsville. Visitation will be held from 5 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home in Concordia. Burial with military rites will be in Higginsville City Cemetery. Born July 19, 1948, in Waverly, MO, he was the son of the late Wilbert Krause and Anna Marie Stockman Krause who survives of Concordia. On August 21, 1976, he married Monica Edwards who survives of the home. He was a 1966 graduate of Concordia High School and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in business from Central Missouri State University in 1970. While at CMSU he served two years in the ROTC Program/2nd lieutenant and was promoted to 1st lieutenant in 1971. He was a U.S. Army veteran serving as training officer-Infantry, Ft. Lewis Washington State and was promoted to captain in the U.S. Army Reserve in 1975. He had lived in Higginsville since 1980, retired in 2001 from Shelter Insurance Company in Columbia, MO as a claims representative and also worked for Farm Bureau Insurance retiring in 2011. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church where he served as lector, usher and collections. He was also a member of Higginsville American Legion Post 223. He served as Little League Baseball sponsor and coach, Junior League Baseball coach and Park League Basketball coach. He was a member, officer and sport representative for the Husker Athletic Booster Club Lafayette County C-1 High School.

In addition to his wife and mother, survivors include two sons, Ted Krause and wife Fallon of Warrensburg and Davey Krause of Kansas City, MO; two brothers, Jim Krause and wife Ann, Steve Krause and wife Valerie, all of Concordia; one sister, Linda Krause of Henderson, NV; and several nieces and nephews.
