Biography

Darlena M. Seckington, 64, of Malta Bend, MO, died Thursday, July 26, 2012, at her home.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, July 30, 2012, at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Marshall, with Larry Haney, Jr. officiating. Visitation will be held from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Malta Bend Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Uylesses Thomas, Zachary Haney, Jerry Wayne Smith and Brandon Bishop. Memorials may be made to Alzheimer’s Association. Born October 18, 1947, in Springfield, MO, she was the daughter of the late Charles Willis Smith and Elsie Genevia Allman Smith. She was a 1965 graduate of Malta Bend High School. On December 13, 1968, she married Jerry D. Seckington who survives of the home. She had lived in Malta Bend most of her life and worked in food service at various places including Malta Bend School, Missouri Valley College and Marshall Habilitation Center.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by three daughters, Genevia Utterback of Slater, MO, Christine Haney and husband Larry of Leon, KS and Robin Bishop and husband Brandon of Malta Bend; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; three brothers, Larry Smith of Slater, Charles R. Smith of San Antonio, TX and Jerry Smith of Concordia, MO; and several nieces and nephews.
