Gheard Russell Simpson, 80, of Sweet Springs, MO, died Tuesday, July 10, 2012, at Sweet Springs Villa.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, July 12, 2012, at Blackburn Cemetery, with William W. Harlow officiating. Memorials may be made to Blackburn Cemetery in care of Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home. Friends may sign the online register book at www.campbell-lewis.com

Born June 23, 1932, in Birmingham, AL, he was the son of the late Gheard Lambert Simpson and Nona Long Simpson. From 1966 to 2008 he made his home with Harry and Virginia Rehkop in rural Blackburn where he helped out around their farm. He moved to Sweet Springs Villa in 2008 and enjoyed their activities. He loved ball games, especially baseball games, and animals.
