Biography

Clara K. Griffith, 91, of rural Nelson, MO, died Tuesday, July 3, 2012, at The Living Center in Marshall.

Funeral services will be held 7:30 p.m. Friday, July 6, 2012, at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Marshall, with Rev. Bill Cook officiating. Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be held at a later date in Salt Fork Cemetery. Memorials may be made to New Salem Baptist Church or Fitzgibbon-Mary Montgomery Hospice. Friends may sign the online register book at www.campbell-lewis.com

Born October 15, 1920, in Humansville, MO, she was the daughter of the late Reuben Dooley Martin and Mabel Neerman Martin. She had lived in Saline County most of her life, attended Walnut Grove Elementary School and graduated from Miami High School in 1938. On February 10, 1940, in Miami, she married L.C. Griffith who preceded her in death on November 28, 1976. She was a member of Shiloh Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Miami and later became a member of New Salem Baptist Church at Marshall Junction where she attended Sunday school, was a member of WMU and was involved in other church activities. She was also a member of Blackwater Township Extension Club, Blackwater 100 PTA, Marshall Junction Friendship Club and a charter member of Marshall Junction Community Center.

Survivors include three children, Gary Griffith and wife Helen, Karen Harvey and husband Larry and Dale Griffith and wife Jeanie all of rural Nelson; nine grandchildren: Bradley Harvey and wife Cindy, Eric Harvey and wife Angela, Jason Harvey and wife Kerry, Debbie Griffith and husband James Fujinami, Jim Griffith and wife Barbara, Roger Griffith and wife Jennifer, Mary Jo Griffith and husband Chad Williams, Sabrina Davenport and husband Zach and Beau Griffith; 12 great-grandchildren; three sisters-in-law, Earlene McNulty, Virginia Selheim and Betty Griffith; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother in infancy; and a sister, Fannie Belle Hattabaugh.
