Biography

Stella A. Marquand, 83, of Marshall, died Thursday, May 3, 2012, at Fitzgibbon Hospital in Marshall.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday, May 7, 2012, at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Marshall, with Rev. Keith Jackson officiating. Visitation will be held from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Higginsville. Born December 3, 1928, in Alton, KS, she was the daughter of the late Eugene D. Gregory and Sarah Vonda Williams Gregory. She was a 1946 graduate of Hotchkiss High School in Hotchkiss, CO. On June 29, 1947, she married Bill Orville Marquand who preceded her in death on July 14, 2004. She had lived in Marshall most of her life, was a homemaker and prior to working in the cafeteria at Marshall High School she provided child care in her home for many years. She was a member of Marshall Church of the Nazarene.

Survivors include four daughters, Wilma DeGraffenreid of Marshall, Connie Reeder of Columbus, OH, Vonda Backstrom of Lakewood, CO and Kerry Larson of Chaska, MN; two sons, John Marquand of Denver, CO and Billy Marquand of Marshall; 12 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one brother in infancy.
