John W. (Jack) Lane, Jr., 83 of Marshall, MO, died Wednesday, April 18, 2012, at Lee’s Summit Medical Center in Lee’s Summit, MO.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 21, 2012, at First Baptist Church in Marshall, with Dr. Mike Parris and Rev. Wayne Doolin officiating. Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday at the church. Burial with military rites will be in Malta Bend Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church or Malta Bend American Legion Post 558 in care of Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home in Marshall. Born March 20, 1929, in Lincoln, MO, he was the son of the late John Wesley Lane, Sr. and Daisy Mae Higgins Lane. On April 23, 1955, he married Helen Ann Moore who preceded him in death on April 21, 1973. On March 3, 1974, he married Patricia Ann Hanes Parkhurst who preceded him in death on August 9, 1996. He had lived in Malta Bend and Marshall most of his life and was owner/operator of Jack’s Service Station in Malta Bend. Following his retirement, he was a parts deliveryman for Gilpin Auto Parts for many years. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict and a charter member of Malta Bend American Legion Post 558. He was also a member of the First Baptist Church in Marshall where he served as a deacon for many years and was a member of its Crusaders Sunday school class.
Survivors include two sons, David Alan Lane of Ft. Morgan, CO and Scott Wesley Lane and wife Kym of Marshall; five grandchildren, Chris Lane, Becca Lane, John Lane, Jordan Lane and Cole Lane; five great-grandchildren; one sister, Dorothy Yates of Blackburn, MO; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wives, he was preceded in death by two brothers and five sisters.
