Velma L. Denny, 76, of Lincoln, MO, formerly of Sweet Springs, died Monday, January 2, 2012 at Lincoln Community Nursing Home.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Friday, January 6, 2012 at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Sweet Springs with Rev. Gene Ekstrand officiating. Burial will be in Payne Cemetery south of Concordia. Born August 31, 1935, in Sweet Springs, she was the daughter of the late Stephen Iliff and Thelma Hall Iliff. On September 22, 1953 she married Dennis Denny who survives of Lincoln. She grew up in the Sweet Springs area, where she attended school, and then worked at Lameys in Sedalia and Wilson Foods in Marshall. In 1991, she moved to Lincoln to retire and was a member of the Assembly of God in Windsor. She enjoyed playing the organ, boating, and spending time with family.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by four children: Ernest Denny of the state of California, Jerald Denny of Marshall, MO, Donna Denny of Lincoln, MO, and Wally Denny of Warsaw, MO; 16 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; one sister, Wanda Miller of Sedalia, MO; along with several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Floyd Denny and Carl Denny; and two brothers, Kenneth Iliff and Harlan Iliff.
