Life Legacy
Lt. Col. Jack R. Olds, 77, of Emma, MO, died Wednesday, October 5, 2011, at I-70 Community Hospital in Sweet Springs, MO.
Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, October 11, 2011, at St. John United Church of Christ in Emma, MO, with Rev. Tim Biesemeyer officiating. Visitation will be held from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Sunday at Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home in Concordia. Burial with military rites will be in the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Higginsville. Born April 7, 1934, in Sedalia, MO, he was the son of the late E.R. Olds and Selma Summers Olds. He was a graduate of the University of MO-Columbia. On September 14, 1973, he married Shirley Green who survives of the home. He had lived in Emma since 1989 moving from Higginsville. He retired as lieutenant colonel from the U.S. Army serving in the Vietnam War. After he retired he was a recruiter for the U.S. Army Reserves. He was a member of VFW Post 5649 and American Legion Post 258 both in Concordia, and was active in the Sweet Springs Food Pantry. He was a member of St. John United Church of Christ.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children, Donna Wells and husband Chuck of Slater, MO, Danny J. Green and wife Karen of Higginsville and Doug Green and wife Kahlea of Liberty, MO; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one brother, Donald Olds of Denver, CO; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Bob Olds.
