Life Legacy


Earl J. Ballew, 90, of Marshall, Mo., passed away at his daughter's home on Friday, September 9, 2011.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, September 14, 2011 at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Marshall, with Rev. David VanHorn officiating. Burial with full military rites will be in Ridge Park Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. He was born on September 13, 1920, in Marshall, the son of the late George W. & Ida M. (Rowland) Ballew. He married Doris L. Green, who preceded him in death. He worked for the Missouri Pacific Railroad for 38 years, and retired in the Bridges and Building division in Kansas City. He was a Corporal in the Army Air Corps during World War II, serving in the South Pacific as a signal corps specialist operating a teletype. He was a life member of the VFW and American Legion and was an avid fisherman and hunter.

Survivors include his son, Earl Leroy Ballew and wife Shirley of Clinton, MO.; daughter: Janis E. Barnes and husband Tony, of Fulton, MO; six grandchildren: Christina (Ballew) Sidduqui of Corona, CA, Jason Crank of Marshall, MO, Nathan Cornine, who is currently stationed at Whiteman Air Force Base; Scott Elmore, Andrew Barnes-Bruaner and Tyler Barnes-Leeper of Fulton, MO; three great-grandsons: Zackary Elmore of Fulton, MO, Joseph Sidduqui of Clearwater, FL, Shaun Sidduqui of Corona, CA; one great-granddaughter, Sonya Sidduqui of Riverside, CA; as well as many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by four sisters; three brothers; one grandson and one great-grandson.
