Biography

James Walter (Jim) Durham, 65, of Boonville, MO, died Monday, August 8, 2011, at Cooper County Memorial Hospital in Boonville.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, August 11, 2011, at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Marshall, with William W. Harlow officiating. Visitation will be held from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial with military rites will be in the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Higginsville. Born May 9, 1946, in Marshall, MO, he was the son of the late Cleo L. Durham, Sr. and Margaret Barnes Durham who survives of Marshall. He retired as a Senior Chief Petty Officer from the U.S. Navy and served during the Vietnam War. On September 19, 1977, he married Esperanza Florencio who survives of the home. He had lived in Boonville since 2005, moving from Arrow Rock, and worked at Kays Engineering and Fitzgibbon Hospital. He was a member of Smith Chapel United Methodist Church near Marshall.

In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by three children, James Michael (Mickey) Durham and wife Lisa of Liberty, MO, Paul Edward Durham of Boonville and Grace Lee Durham of San Francisco, CA; two grandchildren, Amanda Michelle Durham and Melanie Ann Durham; two sisters, Judy Coslet and husband Gary of Marshall and Mary Smith and husband Bobby of Mendon; one brother, Cleo Durham Jr. of Marshall; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a twin brother and sister, Gary Wayne Durham and Sherry Elaine Durham.
