Bill (Polar Bear) Turner, 65, of Marshall, MO, died Thursday, April 28, 2011, at Boone Hospital Center in Columbia, MO.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, May 2, 2011, at Southside
Assembly of God in Marshall, with William W. Harlow, Rev. Cliff Cato and Rev. Claude Fields officiating. Visitation will be held from 1:30 to 3:00 p.m Sunday at Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home in Marshall. Burial will be in Sunset Gardens Cemetery in Marshall. Born July 28, 1945, in Slater, MO, he was the son of the late Walter Washington Turner and Nellie Duncan Turner. He had lived in Marshall most of his life and was a 1964 graduate of Marshall High School. On March 21, 1964, he married Elizabeth (Becky) Ritchie who survives of the home. He was an over-the-road truck driver for 40 years and was owner/operator of Mr. B's Family Restaurant in Marshall. He attended Marshall Baptist Temple and Southside Assembly of God. He coached Marshall Optimist Little League Baseball for many years. He was active for many years in the Royal Ranger Program of Southside Assembly of God with the goal of "Reaching, Teaching, and Keeping Boys for Christ"
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons, William Brent Turner and Billy Joe Ess and wife Tammy all of Marshall and Bradley Ray Turner of Chesterfield, MO; five grandchildren, Sierra Dawn Turner, Jessica Lynn Ess, Billy Ray Turner, Kelly Nicole Griffit and Nicholas James Ess; two step-grandchildren, McCartney Rocha and Harrison Rocha; one brother, David Smith of Slater; twin sister, Judy Brockman of rural Marshall; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, JoAnn Perkins.
