Biography

Eugene E. (Sarge) Seifert, 81, of Concordia, MO, died Sunday, July 18, 2010, at I-70 Medical Center in Sweet Springs, MO.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 23, 2010, at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Concordia. Visitation will be held from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial with military rites will be in Bethel Cemetery in Concordia. Memorials may be made to Disabled Veterans Organization or U.S.O. Born June 24, 1929, in Johnstown, PA, he was the son of the late Robert Lee Seifert and Martha Saltsgiver Seifert. On June 25, 1949, in Kelso, WA, he married Juanita McDorment who preceded him in death on October 16, 1993 He moved to Concordia in 1967, lived in St. Paul, MN from 1969 to 1985 and returned to Concordia in 1985. He retired after 21 years of service, 10 years in the U.S. Navy and 11 1/2 years in the U.S. Air Force. He served during the Korean Conflict. He was an OATS bus driver for five years in Concordia. While living in St. Paul, he worked for the Metro Transit Commission for 10 years and for Markel Insurance Company for three years.

Survivors include one daughter, Marti Frakes and husband Gary of Concordia; one step-son, Michael D. Meyer of San Diego, CA; two granddaughters, Annette Rohr and Jennifer Jamieson both of Concordia; two step-granddaughters, Brenda and Heather Meyer of Lebanon, MO; two great-grandchildren, Amber Wehrs and Mason Rohr; one step-great-granddaughter, Brittany Cozine; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Brenda Boerjan; and two sisters, Dorothy Trautman and Jane Crowley.
