Biography

Elmer Otto Grass, 88, of Emma, MO, died Thursday, July 15, 2010, at The Lutheran Nursing Home in Concordia, MO.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Monday, July 19, 2010, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Concordia. Visitation will be held from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Monday at the church. Burial will be in St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery. Pallbearers will be: Mark Grass, Joshua Grass, Shari Grass, Rebekah Grass and Michelle Hediger. Memorials may be made to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in care of Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home in Concordia. Friends may sign the online register book at www.campbell-lewis.com

Born March 14, 1922, in Freidheim, MO, he was the son of the late Henry C. Grass and Martha Schubert Grass. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. On September 20, 1942, he married Ruth Elna Hacker who preceded him in death on September 7, 2005. He had lived in Perry County MO most of his life, moving to Emma in August of 2000. He retired from Amoco Oil Company after 30 years of service. He was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church.

Survivors include three children: Judy Enos of Las Vegas, NV, Larry Grass and wife Grace of Emma and Betty Hediger and husband Michael of St. Louis; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one sister, Hattie Bohnert of Cape Girardeau, MO; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by one sister, Hilda Vogel and two brothers, Erwin Grass and Clarence Grass.
