Biography

Thomas L. (Tom) Butler, Jr., 47, of Marshall, died Monday, February 1, 2010 at his home, where he was cared for by his family and Crossroads Hospice.

Memorial services will be held at 7:00 p.m. Friday, February 26, 2010 at First Presbyterian Church in Marshall with a visitation from 4 p.m. until time of the service at the church. Born September 12, 1962, in Marshall, he was the son of Thomas L. Butler and Joyce Kennedy Butler who survive of Marshall. On September 27, 1986, he married Leslie R. Richardson who survives of the home. Tom lived in Saline County his entire life where he was a 1980 graduate of Marshall High School. His entire life was spent in the building trades industry, from working at his dad’s lumber yard to new construction. He was an active member of First Presbyterian Church where he served on numerous committees and boards.

In addition to his wife, Leslie, and his parents, he is survived by one daughter, Olivia Lee Butler of the home; one son, Thomas Patrick Butler of the home; two sisters, Jane Ellen (Jeb) Vardiman and husband, Chuck of Fair Grove, MO and Niki D. Surber of Marshall; and one niece, Jennifer Surber of Houston, TX.
