James Andrew Werneke, 85, of Houstonia, MO, died Thursday, October 15, 2009, at Bothwell Regional Health Center in Sedalia, MO.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 19, 2009, at Houstonia Cemetery with Rev. Chris Ruddell officiating. Visitation will be held from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. Monday at Houstonia United Methodist Church. Memorials may be made to the church c/o Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home. Born September 24, 1924, in Houstonia, he was the son of the late Walter Werneke and Thelma Houchen Werneke. He was a 1942 graduate of Houstonia High School. He married Mildred Nichols and she survives of the home. He had lived in Houstonia his entire life and was a truck driver. He was a member of Houstonia United Methodist Church.

Additional survivors include two sons, Jim Werneke and wife Debra of Hot Springs, AR and Randy Werneke of Houstonia; two grandchildren, Abigail Pendrak and husband Chris and Tyler Werneke and wife Amanda; two great-grandchildren, Corban and Abigail Pendrak; two brothers, Ed Werneke of rural Nelson, MO and Fred Werneke of Mesa, AZ; and several nieces and nephews
